ILLUSTRATOR APPEARANCES:

Guidelines

Tony Sansevero has lectured in numerous schools and organizations on the joys of illustrating for children. He has created a diverse array of programs for a wide range of students. Most are geared towards that wonderful artform known as the illustrated book.

The field of children's books is a fascinating one, filled with magic and beauty. A picture-book combines the two oldest artforms know to human history, the illustrated picture and the story. Like a great dance, they balance and compliment, weave in and out of each other.

I have created a diverse array of
programs for a wide range of students.

It is a proven fact that reading books to your children can enhance their learning process. Picture-books can help them better deal with their own thoughts and emotions, help them better understand the world around them, and the countless worlds within their imaginations.

For example, classes focusing on child studies or writing are given a more detailed version of the picture-book as an educational tool, while classes of art students focus more on the illustration techniques and business.

Most of my programs are
specifically tailored to the audience.

I created these lesson plans to be highly educational, and they meet the criteria for state learning standards, but I also try to make them as equally entertaining. Above all, my goal is to leave the joys of this art form far past my visit, in hopes that it will plant a seed for fellow dreamers.

BASIC GUIDELINES FOR APPEARANCES
  • Fees— While each school or organization may differ as far as fees, a standard fee would range from $300-500 a day plus traveling expenses. I usually provide most of the materials needed but some programs require paper or a slide projector. Any special needs are discussed well in advance of the program.

  • Time needed—I usually need a full period (approx. 45 minutes) per program.

  • Class Size—Most programs can accommodate from one classroom to an auditorium—sized class, though I request smaller groups for younger students.

  • Study guides or information sheets are given with most programs. Posters, bookmarks, and books are given with most visits or as incentives to certain programs. Larger classes may require additional costs for the giveaways.

  • Collaboration—I urge all educators to add any suggestions or make any changes they feel may help with particular topics. You'll find me quite flexible and open to new ideas, I enjoy collaboration.

  • Please contact me for specific information or to order an information package or sample performance video.
