Come in and view the new children's book display in the young adult section of the Baldwinsville Public Library.
The bound, illustrated stories were created by 15 local teens at a recent workshop
led by children's illustrator Tony Sansevero, who operates an illustration studio in Syracuse.
He has illustrated several of children's picture books including Sing, Henrietta, Sing! by Lynn Downey and The Secret Admirer, by Donna Guthrie.
At the workshop, he led teens through a process of writing and illustrating their stories, from developing a storyboard layout, through illustrating and hand binding the book.
According to Sansevero, "It was wonderful having the workshop right here in the library, because professional illustrators spend a lot of their time researching their subjects to portray them accurately.
I always encourage young artists to make the most of the wonderful resources the library can provide." The teens all agreed that the workshop helped them improve their drawing and writing skills and appreciated the individual instruction the small size of the workshop made possible.
The library thanks the New York Council on the Arts for the funding of this program.
We would also like to congratulate the fifteen young participants for a job well done.
